Pigeons, Patter and Pathways was a participatory art project, created for Cycle Arts Festival in 2022. It was an uplifting poetry installation and permanent mural, inspired by and exploring our connection to nature, the pigeons and other birds that live along the cycle route.
Walking through the tunnel leading off Easwald Bank up to the cycle path, you can enjoy an ascending mural of birds morphing upwards and bursting in positivity of colour & words.
During the festival, up on the platform itself you could hear poetry, spoken word and music in the trees. The words on the mural and recordings are all made by local creative writers from Kilbarchan and wider Renfrewshire. Listen to these recording via the soundcloud links below.
From murky to mystical, this artwork tapped into the beauty of existing things … vermin pigeons to dream birds? Dingy tunnel or transcendent channel?
