And each answered with their own thought;  ‘the clash of arms and a fair fought fight’ ‘the cry of the curlew in the clear air’ ‘ the cry of a new born babe’ and Finn said ‘these are all good sounds\, but I know that the sweetest music is the music of what is’  \nKamishibai is a Japanese storybox tradition\, where pictures slide in and out of a mini wooden theatre while stories are told to go with them.  Imagine them as the original ‘Ice Cream Vans’\, as they would be attached to bicycles which would travel round the locality. The crowd was attracted using amazingly ear-piercing  hyōshigi or wooden clackers and the kamishibai operator would sell sweets to children before they settled down to watch the show.  \n  \nAbout the artist \nHarriet Grindley  first set her course upon a traditional seven year apprenticeship in Traditional Scottish Storytelling back in 2013 under such mentors as David Campbell\, Linda Williamson\, and the Scottish storytelling centre in Edinburgh. Born in London to Scottish parents\, she returned to her roots studying Mediaeval History at St Andrews and followed a varied career path before finding her tongue as a storyteller.  \nNow she loves to bring the enchantment that comes from one voice holding a gathering in a collective yet individually unique imaginative experience back into everyday community settings.  She often adds songs\, riddles\, music from the clarsach and ukulele\, and sometimes pictures from a Japanese storytelling box (kamishibai).  https://talesoutofthebox.home.blog/  \n\n\nDate & Location\nSunday 7th August\, 3pm – 4pm\,  at Courtshaw Hill \nCourtshaw Hill Viewpoint is located in quite an exposed location with a short but steep climb to the top along a dedicated footpath.   \nPlease wear clothing suitable for the weather conditions on the day\, including suitable footwear for moderate hill climbing and waterproofs in case of rain. For longer events there will be seating available but please be aware that it will be allocated on a first come first served basis. At Courtshaw Hill we will be hosting a Wildlife Gardening Workshop to share skills for wildlife gardening through the creation of wildlife friendly model gardens and learn about amphibians and reptiles along the way with our staff (complete with amphibian and reptile models!). We will then undertake a nature walk together to explore the site and find local wildlife. This event is family friendly and you’ll be able to pick up free guides for native amphibians and reptiles as well as our Natterchat magazine and our handy guide to creating ponds at the end.  \n  \nAbout Froglife \nFroglife are a national amphibian and reptile conservation charity whose vision is a world in which amphibians and reptiles are flourishing as part of healthy ecosystems. In Renfrewshire we deliver the Scottish Green Pathways project\, working with vulnerable and disadvantaged young people aged 8 to 18 (or up to age 25 if they have additional support needs) and the Green Pathways For Life – Glasgow & Renfrewshire project working with people living with dementia to improve local greenspaces for wildlife\, especially amphibians and reptiles\, through practical conservation projects with these groups. Activities can include anything from nature walks to pond dipping to creating a new pond in a local greenspace. Find out more here: Renfrewshire Living Water (froglife.org)  \n\n  \nDate/Location\nSaturday 6th August\, 11am – 1pm at Courtshaw Hill \nCourtshaw Hill Viewpoint is located in quite an exposed location with a short but steep climb to the top along a dedicated footpath.   \nPlease wear clothing suitable for the weather conditions on the day\, including suitable footwear for moderate hill climbing and waterproofs in case of rain. SUMMARY:Vista di Ninfa by Sita Pieraccini: Installation
DESCRIPTION:Intro\nA Forest: an eclectic programme of music\, performance\, workshops around ideas of changing landscape happening at Courtshaw Hill throughout the duration of Cycle Arts Festival. \nIn her performances and projects\, Sita Pieraccini playfully invites the audience into an active re-enchantment of the senses. Vista di Ninfa is a series of prints inspired by looking at organic matter from the local biome under microscopes. Before reaching the Courtshaw Hill Viewpoint in Parkhill Woods\, audiences enter a small clearing with a huge tree in the centre. Surrounding the tree are seven elemental prints.  \nVista di Ninfa draws on Sita’s recent collaboration with artist Jamie Wardrop in their live performance work\, Strange Loop. In this piece\, Sita sings open portals to worlds within worlds\, led by the ever evolving\, projected microscopic imagery co-created with the audience in a playful attempt to facilitate a reconnection to the magical continuity to all living organisms.  \nSita Pieraccini is a performer\, maker and musician from Lochwinnoch. Her background in theatre\, therapeutic clowning\, video and music inform the creation of her work. Sita is excited to be presenting her installation\, Vista di Ninfa at this year’s festival and dedicates it to her mum\, Alison Anne Pieraccini\, whose beautiful drawings and paintings of faeries have inspired her in the making of this series.   \n  \nAbout the artist\nSita Pieraccini  is a performer from Lochwinnoch. Her experience as an actor\, therapeutic clown and musician in a mixture of traditional theatre\, contemporary performance\, live music and hospital settings inspire the creation of her work. She often collaborates with visual and sound artists exploring a deconstructed language of physical performance that playfully invites the audience into an active re-enchanting of the senses\, shared histories and real and/or imagined realms. \n  \nDate/Location\n1st – 7th August. Permanent installation throughout the festival week\, Courtshaw Hill. \nCourtshaw Hill Viewpoint is located in quite an exposed location with a short but steep climb to the top along a dedicated footpath.   \nPlease wear clothing suitable for the weather conditions on the day\, including suitable footwear for moderate hill climbing and waterproofs in case of rain. For longer events there will be seating available but please be aware that it will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
