SUMMARY:Cycle Powered Music Showcase at Lochwinnoch
DESCRIPTION:Intro\nThe Cycle Powered Music Stage at the Cycle Arts Festival 2022 delivers in unusual presentation of a local musicians Showcase. The small stage which amplifies the music of up to 4 Musicians at a time requires 5 bikes with cyclists riding them for the entire period on the event. So come get cycling! \n  \nFeatured Artists\n  \nArchie CW \n \nArchie\, 18\, from Lochwinnoch is about to make his headline debut at King Tut’s following the release of his first solo single\, “Everything she does is beautiful”.  An accomplished writer and performer\, he has already performed in iconic Glasgow venues such as the Barrowlands and the Glasgow Green main stage for the 2018 European Championships.  His solo debut follows a successful collaboration – “Nicotine” – with Drum and Bass DJ/Producer Goddard\, (top 10 on the iTunes dance charts with nearly 5 million streams) and being invited to close out the Tobacco Docks music festival to a sell out crowd of over 2\,000 people \n  \nSilver Threads \nWe are Evelyn Laurie (vocals) and Neil Thomson (vocals\, guitar\, bouzouki) with additional support from John McGhee on guitar. The songs we’d do are from ‘Silver Threads’\, our collection of songs from local writers\, including Danny Kyle\, Robert Tannahill and ourselves\, which tell stories from Paisley’s heritage. \n  \nNeil MacDonald Thomson \nPaisley born and bred\, Neil is a lifelong singer\, songwriter and multi instrumentalist\, who sets music to traditional poems sung in Old Scots and writes songs with unique observations inspired by the natural world. His album releases have been well received “Beautifully recorded\, reminiscent of early Ralph McTell\, Dougie Maclean or even The Incredibles” Folk Roots Magazine. ‘Snawdraps’ written in old Scots by Gerry Cambridge and set to music by Neil became a joint winner of the 2016 Nòs Ùr competition sponsored by Hands up for Trad. In 2017 Neil relaunched Crieff folk Club and has recently presented a folk and roots music show for local community radio station Radio Earn. www.neilthomson.co.uk \n  \nEvelyn Laurie \n \nBorn in Paisley\, ‘a while ago’ (!)\, Evelyn Laurie is a lifelong singer and is now establishing herself as a songwriter of note\, working across a variety of genres. Since 2018\, she has released two albums that have been well received by critics and audiences alike. Some of her songs have been shortlisted in international songwriting competitions. Her recent album\, “My Scottish Heart” is a collection of 18th and 19th century traditional Scottish songs\, reimagined in contemporary jazz settings\, plus some of her original creations. The album has been described by reviewers as a ‘fantastic musical masterpiece’ and a ‘gem of an album’.  In 2018\, Evelyn was awarded Renfrewshire Provost’s Champion for Arts and Culture for her voluntary activities in the local creative community. www.evelynlaurie.com \n  \nJohn McGhee \nJohn is an accomplished guitarist who also teaches guitar in Renfrewshire schools. He plays in several ceilidh bands and has been involved in developing the ‘Silver Threads’ songs. \n  \nDeep Filff \n \nThere are 2 of us – a drummer and a bassist with vocals.  What songs will Deep Filff play? You decide! The improvised psychedelic hardcore punk duo bring tons of energy\, fun and loud noise\, with a comedic interactive twist. \n  \nLinzie Clark \n \nLinzi released her debut album ‘ All I Have Now’ in November last year featuring beautifully crafted songs that soar and yearn with love\, warmth and curiosity. A charming and natural performer on a stage\, Clark pairs her soulful vocals with striking pop arrangements that balance the rich storytelling tradition of artists like Julia Jacklin\, Regina Spektor and Kate Bush. Amongst the many notable successes\, her debut album went on to win Album of The Year at the Paisley Music Awards\, and was featured as Record of Note & Best of 2021 on BBC Radio Scotland by Roddy Hart. \nLink to music: https://linktr.ee/linziclark      Link to website: https://www.linziclark.com/ \n  \nSupport for the Cycle Powered Music Showcase comes from Music Broth \nMusic Broth is Scotland’s Loudest Library! A musical instrument and equipment sharing library\, social enterprise with charitable status (SC048299).\nOur ethos is to make music playing\, learning and enjoyment accessible to all. We enable people to pursue their own creativity\, self-expression and wellbeing through music\, through making musical instruments and equipment and support accessible\, regardless of income\, ability\, socioeconomic background\, or other life factors. We recognise music can be a privilege for some and we want to level that playing field\, so anyone can take up any instrument as their heart desires.\nWe created our library of over 2000 musical instruments and equipment since our inception in 2017\, harnessing the immense generosity of the Scottish community through instrument and equipment donations and volunteer time. We reuse\, restore and repair donated items for sharing through our community library; environmentally consciously saving instruments from landfill and prolonging their lives\, whilst bringing musical joy to new hands! \n  \nClick here to book tickets. \n  \nDate/Location\n4th August\, 3pm – 7pm at Castle Semple Visitors Centre
